Just a dog

September 2014 my husband and I put down the dog I grew into an adult with. The dog who followed me from ages 18-31. During that time I graduated high school, my parents divorced, Pat came into my life....arguably the age where you change the most, from a teenager to an adult. Freeway was with me through all of that. At the time when I felt like I had no one, she was there. She was always happy to see me, and could always sense when I wasn't okay. It wasn't until we put her down that I realized she wasn't "just a dog", she was my friend.

Couples who suffer from infertility invest a lot into their animals. We look forward to coming home to them, spending the day with them.....essentially treat them like our babies. Our fur babies. Our house has never (and I don't think ever will) had a shortage of fur babies.

Jaspurr
Jaspurr was mine before Pat and I got married. I got him because I was living by myself and was lonely. I couldn't have Freeway with me at the time, and needed someone with me. Jaspurr was it. He was such a little shithead when he was a kitten, but I couldn't help but love him. To this day he marches to a different drum, and takes crap from no one.

Phineas
Phineas (aka Phin, Phinny, Phinster) wasn't going to be with us permanently. We were "fostering" him for a friend until he could find a home. Phin was with us for 3 days before we fell in love and decided to keep him. He has the most gentle soul of any animal I have ever met, with the most expressive eyes AND ears. I remember before we decided to keep him he was in the backyard on day "frolicking" around. As I went out to see what he was doing I found out he was playing with a butterfly. That sums Phin up to a tee.

Bowie
Bowie is the newest addition to the family. Neither of us have had a puppy in years so you forget how much work they are. The late night potty breaks, and the constant yelling "What the hell are you eating NOW?!?!". He is quite the little piggy so if there is ANY food around he will find it. Including when he binged on Phin's food. He had a big pregnant looking belly and I think it took him 2 days to poop it all out. I love that we get to watch him come into his own, and hopefully will be as sweet as Phin.
Honorable Mentions
Presley the Hedgehog, Gordon Whitefoot (who is now with my dad) and 2 little foster kitties Ghost and Jelly Bean.
