Back to School

I have talked about "trigger" days before. Christmas, Easter, Halloween, the list goes on. Today is one of those days. Social media today is a panic attack waiting to happen for infertiles.

It's kind of funny though, because its like the whole one door closes and the other door opens situation. The closing door is all the exciting summer pics. Its the fireside camping, the baseball finals, the outdoor movie, the beach pics. The closing door is all the exciting things everyone else did as a family over the summer. The opening door, is your yearly reminder that you don't have to worry about back to school. It's your yearly reminder that those kids that were born when you started trying are now going into Grade 1. It's the time stamping. The knowing that if you were one of the "lucky ones", you would be taking those pictures too. You would be shedding "those" tears instead of the sad tears that you are trying to avoid.

I almost forgot today was "back to school". It would have came across my path eventually, and would have preferred it to in another way than it did. I had to watch a parent come rushing into the grocery store to grab stuff for her children's lunches because she "forgot". Are you fucking kidding me?!?! How do you forget to FEED YOUR CHILD??? I can understand you ran out of milk, or maybe had to change your breakfast plan....but had NOTHING to pack for your kids lunch? What else didn't your child have for school today?

This year seems to be worse because we might not get the official "first day of school". Today was a reminder of how many "firsts" we are actually going to miss.
